Most of this machine was built with descrete components. The faulty transister, diode, capacitor etc. had to be found and replaced. Because of this one image I can remember more about this incident than I would have otherwise. The problem was intermittent, there is a can of circuit freeze next to the scope. The problem was on one of those few circuit boards, the solid state Z line.

They were rapidly cutting back as new electronic registers and adding machines were introduced. They broke some promises as far as training and getting paid on time. So I did not last long, quit and went to Montreal for the Olympics.
